About Hana
After working intimately with MCPS, the Montgomery County Regional Student Government (MCR-SGA), MoCo EmpowHER, MoCo 4 Change, and other student organizations, Hana O'Looney was elected on April 23, 2021 to be the 44th Student Member of the MCPS Board of Education (SMOB). She was sworn in to office on July 1, 2021 to begin her one-year term as one of eight members on the Montgomery County Board of Education. She is one of two student board members in the state of Maryland with full voting rights, and one of very few nationally.
Hana currently serves as a member of both the Board’s Policy Management Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee. Outside of Montgomery County, she serves as the youngest member of the PERIOD nonprofit's Youth Advisory Council, advising the leading global menstrual equity network on strategic planning and programming.
